The Beech Mountain Planning and Inspections Department interprets and enforces the North Carolina State Building Code, Beech Mountain Town Ordinances and the Sedimentation and Erosion Control Program. The Department is staffed with one Inspector/Zoning Administrator, who also serves as staff to the Planning Board and Board of Adjustment. Some of the common local code issues include posted street addresses, screened l.p. gas tanks, garbage bins, tree cutting permits and smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in rental housing.

Information on When Building Permits are Required-Please Read

In the Town of Beech Mountain, permits are also required for anytime trees are cut or anytime signs are posted.Cutting trees without a permit can result in a fine of $1,000 per tree. Click HERE for a copy of the Tree Ordinance.
