POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Beech Mountain Police Department consists of nine full time police officers and four full time dispatchers. The department is also served by a part time police officer and dispatcher to help during the busy winter ski season.
This department is committed to a very high level of training, professionalism and a modern, community oriented policing style of law enforcement. It is the ultimate responsibility of any police department to answer the needs of the citizens and property owners of their municipality. This department surveys the taxpayers occasionally, to determine the needs of the citizenry, and performance is adjusted accordingly.
One of the most popular endeavors this department has undertaken is the development and implementation of the Night Eyes and Footprints Program. This program serves the dual function of allowing frequent residence and business checks, and also helps determine if there are any witnesses to criminal activity in a given neighborhood. The blue cards, often found on doors throughout the town, are a result of this program.
