SMOKETREE TRAIL

FALLS TRAIL

this is an easy to moderate trail. that connects the Beech Mountain Parkway to Pinnacle Ridge Road. the trail is an almost level parthway thru the woods filled with maples,Beech, mountian magnolias and hemlock trees. Blackberries abound along the trail and can be picked in late July and early August

Please park outside the gate at the Buckeye Lake Water Plant. The trail begins above Buckeye Lake and is accessed via a path behind the treatment plant building.The trail follows the creek throught a heavily forrested area for about a 1/4 mile with a modest slope.

                               LOWER POND CREEK TRAIL

                               This is a single track-walking trail that leads throught the woods down to its terminus at the Locust Ridge road. A distance of one mile. you will encounter steep terrain as it follows Pond Creek. this trial offers some of Beech mountain's greatest natural beauty.

                                           Welcome to Beech Mountain's favorite trail. Built in the late 1960's. This trail was constructed so folks in the Chater Hills could walk to the recreation area. Whether you are out ofr a little exercie or an enjoyable walk along a creek. This trail will take you througth beautiful woods. From its starting point at Perry Park, the trail travels one mile throught Charter Hills to Lake Coffey.

                               WILD IRISH LOOP

                                        GRASSY GAP CREEK TRAIL

                          Best described as an easy woodland trail,Wild Iris trail is two miles in length with only a moderate elevation change along the way. Begining at Cherry Gap, the trail heads north toward Bear Paw Path. At Bear Paw the trail loops back around making its way to connect again at the one-mile point.

        Beginning here at the Hawthorne Trail Head, this easy hiking trail heads a little northwest dropping some 600 feet in elevation to Buckeye Lake. As you start, you will be following an old logging road used during the late 1920's, when chestnut and hemlock trees were harvest on beech moutntain.

                                This is a vigorous hike that will take you over a variety of terrain including grassy paths, old logging roads and unimproved town roads. this will test you hiking stanimaand give you a great hike.

                                            A new area to explore, originally roughed in for develpment, these roadways offer an undisturbed area with easy grades and wooded scenery.There are two access points, Canterwood and Gumtree.
