Objective, Benefit & Mission

By participating in the A Cool 5 Race Weekend, in whatever capacity possible, you are able to contribute to a cause that’s effects will be seen here in the High Country for many years to come.

The 4th annual A Cool 5 Race Weekend will strengthen existing fundraising efforts to offer the children of our community, Beech Mountain visitors, and surrounding High Country communities, a safe and enjoyable place to recreate. These efforts will be accomplished by contributing funds to an array of community recreation projects, including the brand new high-altitude Emerald Outback mountain bike park. More specifically, funds from this years A Cool 5 Race will benefit a collaborative community fishing docks program between the Beech Mountain Parks & Recreation Department and the NC Wildlife Resource Commission.

Since its inception, the Parks and Recreation Department has made great strides in helping grow indoor and outdoor recreation opportunities for the surrounding community. Currently we offer over 24 miles of outdoor trails, the 26.5 acre Buckeye Lake Recreation area including the 22,500 sq ft. Buckeye Recreation Center, Lake Coffee Recreation area, and three community parks. The Parks & Recreation Department also offers various health and wellness, community, and family programs for the general public. It is our goal to continue to offer families, both residents and visitors, a safe and fun playground area for toddlers and young children to utilize in addition to our other wonderful recreation outlets.

The Town of Beech Mountain and the Parks & Recreation Department value our relationships with all of our corporate and business partners as well as the many individual supporters that make our mission a reality. It is with your continued support and participation in the 2011 A Cool 5 event that we can continue to help the lives of others and better our community through increased recreation outlets and opportunities.
